Theo's Rescue Story

Theo was found being sold at a local farmers’ market in a village in Zibo, Shandong, China, for just 200 RMB (about US$30).
We believe the seller bought him from a cat trafficker and planned to resell him. Theo was unusually clean and already vaccinated, which is uncommon for a stray cat in China. These signs made us suspect that he may once have had a home and could have been stolen.
When Theo first arrived at the market, he was still alert and energetic. Within a month, he had become weak, withdrawn, and barely responsive. A local rescuer saw how quickly he was deteriorating and posted about him on RedNote, a popular Chinese social media platform, asking for help. That is how his story reached 7Paws, and we stepped in to get him to safety.
We may never know exactly where Theo came from or if someone was searching for him. What we do know is that he did not belong in a cage, being passed from one person to another for profit.
Theo has since recovered and is ready for a fresh start. He deserves a home where he will be protected, loved, and never treated like merchandise again.
